Our Program
The purpose of the student internship is to provide an opportunity to seek, identify and further develop an appropriate level of professionalism while learning to help children, adults and families cope with substance abuse and mental illness. Our internship programs teaches participants to help us implement strategies to bring our vision to life.
Our vision is to focus on the person as a whole and plan to implement soluble methods to strengthen the lives of those being served through innovative mental health and substance abuse treatments.
Our internship program will teach how to strengthen adults and children who lack employment, education, housing and stability in order to decrease the likelihood of mental instability and substance abuse addiction. We aim to establish innovative standards of care to ensure effective and culturally competent recovery
THE FOUNDER'S PURPOSE
The desire and focus is to help those in need regardless of medical history, educational attainment, financial status, & zip code.
OUR GOALS
DECREASE VICTIMIZATION
The trauma of victimization is a direct reaction to the aftermath of crime. Crime victims suffer a tremendous amount of physical and psychological trauma. The primary injuries victims suffer can be grouped into three distinct categories: physical, financial and emotional. When victims do not receive the appropriate support and intervention in the aftermath of the crime, they suffer "secondary" injuries.
DECREASE FAMILY CRIMINALITY
We work to fight against the negative impact of the crime on the victims, perpetrators and their families who experience physical, emotional, spiritual, social and financial breakdown.
COMMUNITY RESTITUTION
Helping probationers restores the harm done to the community by the crime through community service. A valuable way to fulfill their community service requirement while giving learning to become a productive member of the community.
MENTORING
Mentoring is an essential leadership skill. In addition to managing and motivating people, it's also important that mentors help others learn, grow and become more effective in their communities.
SKILL BUILDING
Adolescents and adults need both to understand risk-reduction strategies and to develop the decision-making and communication
skills to use them.
PROSOCIAL PEER RELATIONSHIPS
Students of child development, social work and the like have always drawn attention to the importance of peers, especially in adolescence. Understanding when peers may facilitate each other’s antisocial behavior as well as modeling good choices.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE ASSESSMENTS AND TREATMENT
Assessment is a thorough evaluation designed to definitively establish the presence or absence of a diagnosable drug abuse problem. The results of the assessment also suggest what is likely to be the most appropriate type of treatment when drug problems are evident.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Vocational training programs provide individuals with the skills they need to re-enter the workforce. It helps those maintaining recovery or trying to regain control of their lives, gain the confidence to succeed, and become economically independent.
